Mego Star Trek Aliens

Two series of alien characters were released for Mego's Star Trek line of action figures from the 1970's (in addition to the Klingon who was part of the 'regular' series of characters).

Star Trek alien Series 1 consisted of Cheron, Gorn, Keeper, and Neptunian. The first three were based upon actual characters taken from the TV series itself (although the Gorn doesn't quite look like its proper TV version), while the Neptunian was sort of a generic alien character, a lizard-like being with green scaly skin.

Series 2 featured Andorian, Mugato, Romulan, and Talos (Talosian). These were four specific alien races from the Star Trek TV show and fictional universe; the Romulans have been featured in the Star Trek TV programs and films, almost obtaining a stature close to that of the Klingons; the Andorians too have shown up a number of times. The Mugato is fondly remembered from the original series due to its exotic and fun look - it's basically a gorilla with white fur and a horn protruding from its forehead.

While the first series of aliens are fairly easy to locate and command an affordable price from collectors, the same cannot be said for the second series. These four figures represent some of the most difficult Mego characters to collect, simply because they are very scarce; and when they are found, they command high prices from collectors competing to obtain scarce examples. A legend of a fire devastating a large amount of warehouse stock consisting of the series 2 alien figures can't be confirmed; nevertheless, it would explain the scarcity of these late-run additions to Mego's Star Trek figure line.
