The Six Million Dollar Man Menu
SMDM Porta-Communicator by Kenner
The Six Million Dollar Man Porta-Communicator was an accessory toy for the popular action figure. Col. Steve Austin was an astronaut who became terribly injured in a crash of his spacecraft; parts of his body were replaced by electronic ('bionic') versions which gave him increased abilites like strength, running speed, and telescopic vision.
The Porta-Communicator consisted of a white helmet and blue plastic 'backpack' (i.e., the Receiver) that the action figure wore. This was connected by a white electrical cord to a a blue plastic Transmitter which the user could speak into; the user's voice could be heard over the Receiver's speaker.
The user could also transmit morse code to the Receiver. The one-sheet instruction manual packaged with the item gave some example phrases in morse code, as well as the code for the entire alphabet.
A signup form for the Bionic Action Club (deadline April 1, 1978) was also enclosed with the toy.
This toy was produced in about 1977 by Kenner.
