Batman Trading Cards

The debut of the Batman TV show in 1966 produced a frenzy of Bat-mania that enthralled kids and compelled them to buy all sorts of merchandise with the caped crime-fighter's picture on it.

Batman trading cards One of those items was the Batman trading card set of 55 cards, each measuring 2-1/2"x3-1/2".

The card fronts depict color artwork of the Dynamic Duo in action in a variety of adventurous situation. Card backs were orange with a figure of Batman on the right, and a white block of text giving narration dominating the center. The card number is enclosed in a stylish Batman symbol.

The text on the cards was divided up into separate stories. There are 11 cards each devoted to stories about the villains Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, and Riddler; the first 2 and the final 9 cards of the set stand alone as single-card stories.
